DrKumarDr. Uma M. Kumar, MD

Dr Uma M. Kumar joined Southern Crescent Nephrology in 1995.  After completing her Nephrology Fellowship at Westchester County Medical Center (affiliated with New York Medical College), Dr Kumar worked as attending physician at the VA Hospital, Montrose, New York, 1989 until 1995. She serves as Medical Director for DaVita Dialysis Center in our area including Jonesboro, Forest Park, McDonough and Jackson. Dr Kumar has been nominated twice in Southern Arc Magazine for “Top Doc”. She was also a recipient of National Kidney Foundation Award, 1989 and DaVita Divisional “PEPper” award in 2009. Dr Kumar has a passion for teaching, dance, gardening, painting, community service and spending time with her family.

DrRahmanDr. M. Hafiz Rahman, MD

Dr. Muhammed Hafiz Rahman joined our practice in April of 2000. He graduated in 1989, top 3 in his class from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh, the best medical school in the country. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He did his Nephrology fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey. In 1998, he was named “Attending Physician of the Year” by Saint Elizabeth Hospital in New Jersey. He is Board Certified in both Nephrology and Internal Medicine and serves as Medical Director for several DaVita Dialysis centers. Dr. Rahman loves to travel, enjoys watching movies and spending time with his family.

Dr. Sanjay Sharma, MD

Dr. Sanjay Sharma joined Southern Crescent Nephrology in 2006, after completing his nephrology fellowship from West Virginia University.  Dr. Sharma also completed a fellowship in geriatrics from Duke University and his residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center, an affiliate of Michigan State University.  During his residency, he was honored as a “Resident of the Year” and received the “Special Ambassador Award” for outstanding performance during his training. He was also first rank holder in final medical school exams. Dr. Sharma has practiced internal medicine for many years prior to his fellowship training. His area of special interest is Chronic kidney disease, Hypertension, and Dialysis. Dr. Sharma currently serves as medical director at Davita Jonesboro and Davita Tricounty dialysis facility. He currently has privileges as medical staff at Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Fayette, Souther Regional medical center, and Spalding Regional medical center. Dr. Sharma was also recognized as one of the “Top Doctors” in nephrology by Atlanta magazine in 2016, 2017,  and 2018. Dr. Sharma is board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Nephrology. In his leisure time, he enjoys photography, travel and music.

DrBlackmonDr. Demetrious Blackmon, MD

Dr. Demetrious Blackmon joined the staff of Southern Crescent Nephrology in 2008, upon completion of this Fellowship in Nephrology in Hypertension, Emory University.  He received his Medical Degree from the University of South Alabama in 2002. Dr. Blackmon is certified in Interventional Nephrology and performs vascular procedures at the Metro Atlanta Access Center.  He is an active member of numerous civic and fraternal organizations and attends Global Impact Christian Ministries.  Dr. Blackmon is married with two children and enjoys reading, running, weightlifting, hunting, and fishing.

Dr. Janice WeatherspoonDr. Janice Weatherspoon

Dr. Janice Weatherspoon joined Southern Crescent Nephrology in 2014 after completing her nephrology fellowship and residency from University of Alabama Medical Center. She has worked as a Nephrologist in the Atlanta area for the past four years before joining our practice. She is board certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys travel and spending time with family and friends.

latoya3Latoya Williams APRN, BC

Latoya Williams, APRN BC, our Nurse Practitioner, has been with Southern Crescent Nephrology since January 2005.  She began her journey into the field of nursing after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University.  While at Emory, she worked as an RN in the ICU for five years, prior to obtaining her Master of Science in Nursing.  As an academic achiever, she graduated with honors as Cum Laude.  Ms. Williams is devoted to the nursing profession and is a member of various nursing organizations.  She believes in advocating for her patients and in promoting healthy lifestyle changes.  Latoya enjoys traveling, exercising and spending time with her family, including her two puppies.
